HEAD

Head, Central El Paso, 2002

Saw it.
Had to have it.
I observed, “Hey, you must really love it here.”
He looked at me with a slight grin.
“Never been here before a month ago.
“So, that’s new?” I replied, pointing ro his head.
He looked at me like the nuisance I was.
“Nope, got this a few years ago. Heard this was a peaceful place. So I went for it,” he replied. And then opened up and said, “Yeah, got this in Cali… in a place where, he grinned,” they turn the light off at 9…. if you know what I mean.”
I got it.
Prison!
So, you’re happy to be here?
He’d had enough, turned, started to walk away, then turned, his stoic demeanor warming.
“It’s peaceful.”
He walked away.
Never have seen him again.
Hope it stayed that way for him. I’ve wanted to thank him for the image, ever since. He reminded me.
It’s peaceful.
